New Menu Items Coming Soon!

We’re always experimenting with new things at here at The Lab, and that of course includes our menu items!
Take a look below for some of our new creations, and minor tweeks to existing favorites!
  • New Salad, Savoy Spinach with andouille sausage and grilled onions in balsamic with crumbled goat cheese.
  • New Salad, Shrimp Panzanella Salad: Sauteed shrimp with mixed greens, buffalo mozzarella, cherry
    tomatoes, red onion and vinaigrette.
  • New Pizza, since our yummy Harvest Pizza is out of season Chef Moez created a new tasty pizza invention, The Labs Summer Peach Pizza. This one is made with fontina, mozzarella, sliced peaches, carmalized onions, walnuts and a honey drizzle.
  • New Tacos, Cali street tacos with chicken, pico de gallo, and red and green salsa. Nice and authentico!
  • Our sausage plate with braised red cabbage now has a choice of brats or bourbon street andouille.
  • Blue Cheese and Kick Ass Fries are changed up a bit, but they are still delicious so don’t worry! The cheese and garlic will be baked and then topped with a blue cheese sauce. Kick ass fries come with chile frito and blue cheese habanero sauce.
  • Sauteed spinach in garlic olive oil and Mung Beans with coconut curry are new additions to the Botanical menu.
Come on down and try one of the new dishes! I’ll bet you find a new favorite!

BTW, blogger Chef Lars has a review of the night already posted. Now onto the photos:

Opening Reception The opening reception featured Lagunitas Pils, artisan cheeses and crudite. But the highlight was the format which allowed for mingling and meeting many new people.

FRIDAY NIGHT REGGAE With The Souls of Love

Reggae band the Souls of Love play the LAB tonight starting at 9pm.

Souls of Love is a reggae music collective assembled by ILocks, the longtime keyboardist and backing vocalist for Eek-A-Mouse and Ras Michael and The Sons Of Negus. Throughout his career, ILocks has bridged the gap between the black urban culture of Los Angeles and the influx of reggae music. ILocks was born to a Mexican woman and Italian man, and as a baby he was adopted by an older African American couple and raised as their son. He spent his childhood in the vibrant community of South Los Angeles, later attending Fairfax High School. He grew up in the Baptist church and was influenced at a young age by his adopted father who was a classically trained vocalist and sang in nightclubs in St. Louis and Los Angeles, usually unaccompanied, before giving his voice to the church. At a young age his father taught him a musical lesson that he will never forget. ILocks remembers the story with a twinkle that is ever present in his eyes. “He taught me how to sing and play Soul music, he taught me what Soul really is, which is Love.” It is with this spirit that ILocks formed the Souls of Love with his wife, Geri Love Walker, his eldest son Elijah Walker on bass and his longtime friend and collaborator, Gerald Couchman behind the drum-kit.
